The Federal Government under the department of the environment, water, heritage and the arts headed up by the honorable Mr. Peter Garrett have introduced the Energy Efficient Homes Package which entitles all Australian homes a rebate of $1200 on ceiling insulation.  

The Australian Government is investing $3.2 billion in the Energy Efficient Homes package to improve the energy rating of Australian homes; this incentive will reduce energy bills by up to 40% per year. To be eligible, a dwelling that does not have insulation or has insulation of negligible effectiveness which can be any insulation installed before 2003 may qualify for this $1200 rebate.
